Hey there!

Today’s Lunch

Hisa and I finally picked the day to move back to the U.S. and bought our plane tickets over the weekend! We’ll be moving back on December 6th!

We had a hard time finding tickets because A) tickets in December are expensive to begin with, and B) one-way tickets are a LOT more expensive than round-trip tickets (why, I’ll never understand).

We normally fly with American Airlines, but their tickets were sooo expensive, so we thought we were going to have to go with some obscure airline with three different connections, because those were the cheapest tickets we could find.

Then we realized (okay, actually my husband realized), that we’ve both accrued a lot of frequent flyer miles the past several years, and we can just use those to purchase tickets! And so we did just that. We actually had enough miles to purchase two first class tickets, but we decided to save our miles and just get two economy class tickets. We still had to pay taxes and whatnot, so the total price for each of our tickets from Japan to the U.S. was about $50. How great is that? That’s definitely the cheapest international plane ticket I’ve ever bought!

So now the day has been set. We still have to figure a lot of other things out though, like when Hisa’s last day of work will be, when we’ll move out and go stay with Hisa’s parents, when we’re going to travel (we’re planning on traveling for about a week to somewhere in East Asia), etc. It’ll be a huge change in our lives. The next chapter as it were. I’ve been living in Japan for three years now, so I’m sure they’ll be some reverse culture shock in moving back to the U.S. I’m excited to see what the future holds though.

Today’s lunch: Two egg, sausage, cheese English muffins (with my homemade English muffins and turkey sausage), broccoli and carrot salad, and a kiwi
