Packing a lunch every day is a great way to get healthy food into your family and yourself. It can help save you money, is good for portion control (and therefore your waistline!), and ensures that your kids are getting healthy wholesome food and not the processed garbage that many schools, unfortunately, serve in their cafeterias.
A packed lunch, however, is only as healthy as you make it.
When I started packing my husband’s lunch every day, I applied the same principles I follow for cooking our other meals. That is, to use natural whole foods, and not processed, prepackaged, artificially flavored and chemical ridden food.
For those who pack lunches every day though, whether for yourself, your spouse, or your children, you know it can be easy to fall into the rut of packing the same thing every day, and it’s all too easy to run out of fresh ideas for fun and nutritious lunches.
I started posting pictures of the lunches I’ve prepared for my husband on this blog with the hope that it would simply give some ideas to those who pack lunches every day, and maybe inspire others to start packing their own (or their family’s) lunches, or start packing healthier, “real food” lunches.
This is an index of all the packed lunches I’ve made and photographed thus far. Click on the picture to take you to the post with the description of the packed lunch, and in some cases, an accompanying recipe. I’m always making new lunches, so I’ll be adding new pictures to this index. Check back again soon!
